Experience the island way of life.

Okaloosa Island is full of wonderful ways to spend your vacation days! The main attraction is the miles of uncrowded sugar white beaches, but islanders here have built a world meant to celebrate their lifestyle.

History

Okaloosa Island is a regional term used for the section of Santa Rosa Island that spans about five miles west to east from the Brooks Bridge in Fort Walton Beach to the Destin Bridge and then southward along the island’s main thoroughfare, Santa Rosa Boulevard. The emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico define the south side of Okaloosa Island and the tranquil waters of the Choctawhatchee Bay define the north. Condominiums and structures on the island can be no higher than 75 feet, which creates an island atmosphere that’s relaxed and unimposing.

Okaloosa Island Activities

Okaloosa Island offers all the beach resort area attractions, shopping, and dining one would expect of a first class resort destination. The Boardwalk offers fantastic restaurants with local seafood, live entertainment, unique shopping, covered picnic areas, volleyball nets, public restrooms, outdoor showers, and vast parking. Next to the Boardwalk explore the newly renovated Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park, a place to enjoy marine animal exhibits, aquariums, dolphin and sea lion shows, and even have an up close encounter with one of the many marine animals. Directly across from the Boardwalk and Gulfarium is the Emerald Coast Conference Center, a dynamic place to attend or plan events, exhibits, and more!
