Every year Labor Day is a big end-of-summer bash and the perfect way to start fall, especially if you're at the beach. We've earmarked five traditions that highlight this staple annual holiday. We want to share them with you so you can create a beach holiday weekend that you and your family and friends will never forget!
1. Fun, Local Festivities
Labor Day wouldn't be a holiday without some sort of par-tay! And, The Palms Bistro has the perfect party line-up for your Labor Day weekend. Hang out inside the bistro Thursday through Saturday--every weekend, actually--from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. for a dueling piano show that'll get you out of your seat and on your feet! The indoor bar is also hosting a Kentucky Derby party Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. So, throw on your fancy clothes and biggest hat, and enjoy your first drink on the bistro! Or, head outside to the Good Vibes Bar, which overlooks the resort's lagoon pool, for more live performances by your favorite artists. See local legends Ron Adams Friday night, Kelsey Hickman Saturday night and Sunday morning, and 12Eleven Sunday night. And be the first to try the bistro's brunch while enjoying live music this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Soak up the sun and all the good vibes while enjoying great food, drink, and live music all weekend!
2. Wet and Wild Adventures
A beach holiday isn't really a beach holiday if you don't spend some time on the water. Never fear, we've got the perfect water adventures waiting for you! Navigator, a 50' Viking Convertible, is ready to reel in a funfilled weekend on the water for you and the entire family. Whether you're feeling charter fishing, relaxing on a private cruise down to Crab Island, or an extended, overnight fishing excursion for the long weekend, she's ready for you. And, if you're staying with us at our on-site locations at Silver Beach Towers Resort and Silver Shells Beach Resort & Spa, you can call the beach service businesses to set up a paddle board or kayak rental to continue having fun on the water!
3. Delicious Dishes
We don't know about you, but one of the highlights of our vacation is trying new food, popular restaurants in the area, and local food options. And Destin, FL, is the perfect place to try local catch and seafood favorites with a fresh, local twist! We're bias because we think The Palms Bistro featuring The Coffeehouse and Good Vibes Bar all have the best menus with handcrafted, seasonal dishes packed with flavor and local Florida flair. But, we also love other popular area restaurants that feature fresh, local fare on their carefully crafted menus, like Fudpucker's, The Donut Hole, and McGuire's Irish Pub. You won't want to skip these local and visitor favs while you're in town because their signature dishes are to die for! Try the steak at McGuire's, the key lime pie at The Donut Hole, and the gator at Fudpucker's. Just trust us on this one.
4. Seaside Serenity
Between beach fun and local attractions, a holiday weekend isn't really a vacation without some rest and relaxation. Make sure you recharge your batteries this weekend whether it's some time alone or time spent with those close to you. And we don't know a better place where you can take a beat and find yourself at the beach than The Spa at Silver Shells. Whether you need a mani-pedi, hair care, a facial, massage, or full body treatment, you'll be taken care of and doted on from the moment you walk through the door. Soon enough you'll feel all your worries wash away with a sip of lavendar champagne while lounging in the relaxation room. You'll bounce back from your beach holiday getaway with just one visit!
5. Family and Friends
The most important part about enjoying your Labor Day beach holiday is spending it with the people who matter the most. We know it's been rough with COVID-19 creating distance between us, but we want to encourage you to gather in the safest way possible. That's why we take the time to do extra cleaning and sanitizing between stays to provide safe spaces for you, your family, and your friends. We also promote staying in a more secluded, private beach home if you're higher risk and staying with us. And even if you can't come to the Emerald Coast with those you love, we hope that you can Facetime them your beach view from your room. This Labor Day enjoy your loved ones whether you can take them with you on your beach vacation or not!
