Regulars to the harbor district of Destin have always noticed the chrome diner across the street from Silver Beach Towers. A chrome diner always brings a sense of nostalgia and cool, a little of the 50s and the Hollywood cool from movies and TV shows. After almost two decades as the Destin Diner and then an extended vacancy, Mary's Kitchen has moved in.

Mary's Kitchen is a staple from the neighboring city of Fort Walton Beach where it has been in business for over 35 years serving Southern cooking and BBQ. Originally founded by a Mary and ran by her family, they have since retired and sold the business to Joe Ezell several years ago. Joe decided Destin was the perfect location to expand his business. The chrome diner has been remodeled with wood panel walls, checkered tablecloths, and black seating to make you feel right at home in the South.

Mary's offers an amazing variety for breakfast for any budget. Biscuits and gravy start the menu at $2.99 with a full assortment of French toast, waffles, and pancakes to order. For those with health concerns on the typical Southern cuisine, Mary's also offers a fruit and yogurt plate that is amazing!

Starting at 11 AM, Mary's switches to the lunch menu but will continue to serve breakfast until closing at 2 PM. Lunch features all of the Southern staples: fried catfish and shrimp, baked or fried chicken, and pork chops. Burgers, chicken, and salads are also available in order to appeal to everyone in the party. Mary's also features a daily special dish with a special side and vegetable of the day to keep things fresh. Here's a great tip: On Fridays you'll find the best lasagna, side salad, and garlic bread ever made by a non-Italian — for only $8.

Not in the mood for fried Southern love? Mary's also offers an amazing BBQ menu as well. Their BBQ sauce is on every table so everyone can try it on their food. Mary's BBQ offerings include pulled pork, pork ribs, and an amazing smoked chicken breast. A monstrous thin-cut ribeye is also on the menu in two sizes with a side salad and baked potato.

After all that food, do you have room for dessert? Mary's Kitchen offers a daily selection of fresh baked pies and cakes. Make sure you arrive early if you plan to have dessert because once a cake or pie sells out, its gone for the day! The assortment changes every day and their apple pies, chocolate peanut butter pie, and Italian wedding cake are life-changing good!

Open booths and tables for two to six are available. There is also an option to eat at the bar.
